General information on Anemos

Work-Package 1:

"Definition of Prediction Requirements. Data Collection & Analysis".

WP Leader:

Overspeed (Igor H-P Waldl).

Partners Involved:

ARMINES, ARIA, UC3M, CENER, DTU, MeteoFrance, CCLRC/RAL, RISOE, IASA, Univ-Oldenburg, EDF, EHN, ELSAM, ESB, EWE, PPC, IDAE, REE.

Objectives:

The objective of this Work-Package is to define the requirements of wind prediction from the technical and the final user point of view. The existing tools and methods for wind resource forecasting will be identified and classified according to the methodology, the required inputs and the forecasting horizon. The optimal combination of methodologies will be investigated in order to have a positive synergy and to increase the performance of the predictions for all scales and forecasting horizons. Emphasis will be given to establish close contact with meteorological services to evaluate the existing meteorological models and the perspectives for their evolution.

The Work-Package will define the data that will be used in the project. Wind farms data as well as numerical weather forecasts will be collected. These data will be analysed and appropriate validation processes will be established for their quality control.

Description of Work:

Task 1.1: Definition of end-user requirements. State of the art.

Task 1.2: Specification and pre-standardization of the data

Task 1.3: Definition of onshore and offshore case studies.

Task 1.4: Collection of wind farms historical data.

Task 1.5: Collection of numerical weather prediction data.

Task 1.6: Data quality control & analysis. Database creation.
